Somewhere between post-punk and shoegaze, TERRITORY offers a hybrid sound mingling wistful atmosphere, incisive voices and sharp guitars.
As far as influenced by certain bands like The Stone Roses, Interpol, Slowdive or Elliott Smith, TERRITORY’s music finds its singularity in this dark universe but moving, like the escape of a dream.

Protocole, nom masculin : Description précise des conditions et du déroulement d'une expérience, d'un test, d'une opération chirurgicale. Enregistré entre l’hiver 2020 et 2021, on ne peut pas dire que cet album soit influencé par la lumière du jour.

Ce 1er album s’écrit des allers retours entre leur local au Point Ephémère, l’installation sommaire d’un appartement du 18ème et le studio d’enregistrement de Dimitri Dedonder à Aubervilliers. Pour cet opus, les influences sont clairs : Nous sommes dans les années 90’s. Sur cette opération TERRITORY va à l’essentiel et ne cherche plus à se cacher derrière les reverbs de leur 1er EP « Times, New Romance » et propose quelque chose de plus frontal. On y retrouve aussi bien Red House Painters sur Darling, comme une ôde à Kim Gordon, que les guitares hurlantes de Gang Of Four pour Decide. La chanson Myers en référence au cinéma d’épouvante et son ambiance sombre et pesante. Caroline, la ballade shoegaze romantique. Et ou Under Another Sky et Trigger seraient le dénouement d’un scénario catastrophe. Pour la pochette ils font appel à leur ami basé à Los Angeles, Jamie Parkhurst. Lui qui ne peint qu’au sol et en utilisant tout ce qui lui passe sous la main, a un style tranché de grands aplats de matières abstraites.
« On a voulu faire comme une collection de pochettes, un peu que ce qu’avait fait les Stone Roses et leur inspiration Jackson Pollock ».
En résumé, « Protocol » nous plonge pour 42 min dans un récit clair obscur, sans compromis, comme une mise en garde d’un ami qui vous veut du bien.

PROTOCOL : Noun. A system of rule that explain the correct conduct and procedures to be followed in formal situations.

Recorded during winter 2020, this piece of work wasn’t really inspired by the daylight. It’s the result of the coming and going between their studio at Le Point Éphémère in Paris, home and the Megaphone recording studio in Aubervilliers.
The mood is clear : we are in the 90’s. TERRITORY mean to get straight to the point and stop hiding behind the reverb and echo of their first EP “Times, New Romance”.
Influentially speaking, we can find some Red House Painters in Darling, an ode to Kim Gordon and Gang of Four like screaming sharp guitars in Decide. Myers refers to horror movies dark and gloomy atmosphere, Caroline, a romantic shoegaze ballad.
The cover artwork has been designed by Los Angeles based Jamie Parkhurst, who only paints on the floor, using whatever comes through his hands, a wide flat tint of abstract material.
“We wanted to create a sort of cover collection, slightly as the The Stone Roses with Jackson Pollock.
In summary, Protocol is a chiaroscuro 42min trip, without any compromise, a caution of a friend who wishes you well, a blessing in disguise.
